Caron receives U.S. patent on chamber insulation technology
(Marietta, OH, March 29, 2018) Caron is pleased to announce the issuance of U.S. Patent #9,927,169 “Insulated chamber with phase change material”. The patent covers technology used in Caron’s revolutionary CO2 incubators and related accessories.
Under its trademarked GelJacket® name, this exclusive Caron feature provides CO2 incubators with significantly better performance than standard air-jacketed incubators. Chamber temperature maintenance after a power loss is hours longer, and unit stability and uniformity are superior.
GelJacket’s® core phase-change material is non-toxic, non-corrosive, and sealed into the chamber for the life of the unit. The user avoids the regular jacket fill-ups and internal rust of a water jacket. Caron GelJackets weigh far less than comparable water-jacketed units and are nearly as lightweight as conventional air-jacketed units
The patented technology is available now in the 10 cu.ft (283L) GelJacket® CO2 incubator, and Caron’s latest unit, the 5 cu.ft (142L) Wally®.
“The patent is official recognition that this Caron innovation is both unique and valuable to the market”, commented Steve Keiser, Caron President & CEO. “GelJacket® units provide maximum security and ease of operation for labs performing critical cell culture work; outperforming all other competitive CO2 incubators on the market.
